Webinar: Geopolitics, inflation and trade – What's next for international logistics?
A webinar hosted jointly with ABN AMROThe global economy is entering a new phase of uncertainty. After years of exceptionally high inflation, many expected markets to stabilise. Instead, new inflationary pressures are emerging, fuelled by rising defence spending, geopolitical tensions and an increasingly unpredictable global trade environment.
For companies operating in international logistics, manufacturing and supply chains, these developments are far from theoretical. They influence investment decisions, sourcing strategies, transport flows, energy costs and long-term competitiveness.
During this webinar, organised by HIDC, we will explore the latest geopolitical and economic developments and discuss what they mean for businesses operating in and through the Netherlands.
The webinar will be moderated by Remco Buurman, CEO of HIDC.
Our guest speakers are Albert Jan Swart, Sector Economist Industry, Transport & Logistics at ABN AMRO, and Bart Banning, Sector Expert Mobility at ABN AMRO.
Albert Jan Swart, who also writes the monthly economic commentary accompanying the Nevi Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI)—one of the Netherlands’ leading indicators for industrial activity—will provide an overview of the current macroeconomic landscape. He will discuss the impact of geopolitical developments, inflation, trade policy and industrial trends on the Dutch and German economies and on international trade flows.
Bart Banning will then examine how logistics companies are responding to these rapidly changing circumstances and discuss the practical challenges and opportunities facing the sector.
Topics include:
- The latest macroeconomic developments
- Inflation, defence spending and their economic impact
- The outlook for Dutch and German industry
- International trade flows and supply chain developments
