An inspiring business trip to Atlanta and Los Angeles: Strengthening logistics opportunities between the U.S. and Europe

In mid-October, Karin Rancuret, Business Development Manager for Europe and the U.S., visisted Atlanta and Los Angeles to meet with companies expanding its business to the European market.

In Atlanta, I visited several companies together with the Netherlands Foreign Investment Agency (NFIA). During these visits, we discussed their plans for the European market, and I provided guidance on setting up their European supply chain. I also represented NDL, as part of a delegation from the European American Chamber of Commerce, at the Springboard to Europe event organised by the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce. This event offered a unique opportunity to position the Netherlands as the logistics gateway to Europe and to share our expertise with American companies interested in establishing themselves in the European market. Additionally, I held meetings with various network organisations, including the Logistics Team from the Georgia Center for Innovation. In these discussions, we explored opportunities for collaboration to foster innovative logistics solutions and strengthen the connections between the U.S. and Europe.

My visit to Los Angeles was primarily focused on maintaining existing contacts and building new relationships within the network. These valuable connections lay the groundwork for future collaborations and strengthen our presence in the U.S. market.

This trip made it clear that Europe remains an attractive market for U.S. exporters, especially for companies offering innovative solutions in the logistics sector. Many of these companies, which often serve multinational clients, are looking to expand into Europe to secure their international market position. In terms of digitalization and automation, developments in the U.S. and Europe are fairly aligned, but when it comes to the sustainability of the supply chain, Europe is still clearly ahead. The recent strikes in U.S. ports further highlighted that the implementation of automation in the logistics sector is not always without challenges.
