Vacancy: Business Development Manager, North America (Freelance)
Business Development Manager wanted!Due to the upcoming departure of one of our colleagues, we are looking for someone to represent HIDC on a freelance basis from North America. The primary focus of this role is maintaining and further developing our contacts with various network organisations in North America and generating leads for our members. You will work closely with the team in the Netherlands.
About Holland International Distribution Council (HIDC)
HIDC is the association by and for the logistics sector, promoting the Netherlands internationally as a logistics hub for the European market and beyond. Our goal is to attract logistics investments and cargo flows that add value to the Dutch economy. HIDC represents around 300 members, most of whom are logistics service providers. We also have members from supporting sectors—such as fiscal, financial, and legal advisors, supply chain consultants, brokers, IT consultants, banks, recruitment agencies, etc.—as well as entities benefiting from a strong Dutch logistics sector, including (air)ports, terminals, carriers, industrial parks, and municipalities.
HIDC as part of the Invest in Holland network promotes the Netherlands as the ideal hub for high‑quality supply chain solutions, advising companies on setting up or restructuring their logistics operations in or via the Netherlands. We support these companies by providing information, offering advice and feedback on their plans, and delivering our matchmaking services. Based on the specific needs of a company, we connect them with HIDC members who provide the required services or products.
We do this in close cooperation with various organisations abroad, such as the Netherlands Foreign Investment Agency (NFIA), Dutch consulates and embassies, foreign Chambers of Commerce, international trade promotion agencies, industry associations, etc. Our focus is on North America, Asia, and Europe.
We also offer our members a platform to exchange knowledge and information. We organise regular member trips to our target countries, events, and theme meetings where members can share insights on logistics developments.
Key traits of HIDC include: a flat organisational structure, a strong collaborative culture with knowledge-sharing, and the freedom employees enjoy in their roles. NDL currently has 10 staff members: seven in the Netherlands, one in China, one in Southeast Asia, and one in North America.
